My Creative Space

There's been alot going on this week, but not much photographing or interneting because of the aforementioned going over our download limit. But it's all business as usual tomorrow!!

So, I've been plugging away at my jumper keeping my hands warm on the train in the mornings. I've finished the front, back and half a sleeve. So only one and a half sleeves and the hood to go! But then there's the collar. Uhoh!

And also above is my mums mothers day present WIP, it's a quilted giant coaster, placemat thingy for her to put on the little table next to her chair. It was a specific request which was nice for a change!

Make sure to go visit Kirsty and see what everyone else has been up to this week.

A break in transmission.

Sorry for the lack of posting this week, we have blown through our download limit here. Which makes uploading photos pretty much impossible. So I've got nothing to show you even though I have been working on stuff.

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about the giveaway. So keep entering and I'll announce the winner on Friday night. Good luck everyone!

Camberwell Market

This morning I got up nice and early to catch the 7.30 train to the Market and meet some lovely brown owly girls. It was my first time there, and I was a little bit worried that I'd get lost or some other calamity. But I made it there, with plenty of time. So a good time was had by all! We got some coffee, and I got a very nice blueberry muffin for brekky.

We did a few laps and I got some very nice purchases! There were a few other things that I would of very much liked to take home, but the seller's were dreaming! And of course there were a few things that I would have had if it was just $10 instead of $15, but I'm crazy like that.

All in all, a very fun morning and I met some very nice girls too. I'll definitely be heading back too. Is there any other brown owls that live in the out eastern suburbs? I thought I might try and organise a trash and treasure morning for us since there's one so close to my house.

Let me know!

Happy 100th Post!

Image from here.

In celebration of the 100th post that I thought I would never reach, I'm having a giveaway!! Woo hoo!

Now, the picture above isn't of anything that I'm going to have in my giveaway. I want it to be a surprise, and I probably won't even decide what it's going to be for sure until I see who has won. That way I can give some personalized treats too! But a few things there will be for sure; some very nice vintage fat quarters, some very nice new ones, lots of buttons, some lace or binding or other trimming and some vintage patterns. Sound good? There will be lots lots more too!

So to enter, just leave a comment on this post. If you blog about it, leave another comment and I'll give you an extra entry too. Because I'm nice like that. Then, come back to Amityville on Friday the 1st in the evening. And see who's won!

So please, enter away!

Ed: If you really want you can still have rice vintage fabric. Whoops!

My *NEW* Creative Space!

I spent the day yesterday directing Damien in moving furniture. We switched around our bedroom which was massive with lots of wasted space and our study which was cramped, dark and always really hot from all of the computers.

Now we have an awesome, spacious and bright study/studio that I love. I have heaps of space and I'm right next to a big window. In the pictures you can also see the awesome table that I got last weekend from the Salvo's. It's green!! And very sturdy and huge. I love it.

It's nice now to have a dining table again, since that's what I'd been using as my sewing table. Care to come over for a dinner party. There's somewhere for you to sit now!! In other exciting news, I just payed for an 8 week sewing class at spotlight starting next Saturday. Fun! Expect to see some good (and some not so good) things here.

For more creative spaces, head over and see Kirst.

Ed Note: I actually had this post ready first thing this morning. But when I went to publish it, I realized I had made my mosaic with 2 of the same photos. D'oh!

Brown Owls this week!

I went to my second brown owls meeting this week with Jess in tow. It was really fun, but to say that I wasn't getting the granny square thing would be a slight understatement!

After I came home slightly frustrated and ready to give up, I decided to regroup and have another go of it. With the help of Pip's wonderful instructions I finally got the hang of it!

So, without further ado I give you 3 slightly wonky and not really square granny squares!

Hopefully they'll get increasingly better :)

Hoppy Easter!

Did everyone have a nice Easter? I did! Yesterday morning I had a breakfast with some of my family at my place. It was really fun and busy and delicious and I totally forgot to take any photos! Isn't that the best kind of party? And I made some totally delicious cinnamon buns.

So, here finally is the embroidery that I've been working on these last few weeks! They're Easter tea towels for gifts for my family. They're my first proper embroidery and I'm very proud of them! I actually made 4, but somehow forgot to take a photo of it before I gave it away... Hmm... The 2 with eggs are ones that I made up and the rabbits are from here. The other on that I made was the chickens eating jellybeans.

And last but not least, here is an awesome egg tree thing that my friend made. Isn't she clever?? It's very cool!

Hope you all have had a good weekend.

My Creative Space

On the train again today. And embroidery again. I've been doing some easter tea towels to give to the family, and hopefully soon I can make a few withsome sublime stitching patterns :)

Also featured in the picture is my first and I think maybe only easter egg. It was waiting for me on my desk this morning. What a nice present from my new manager!

I've also been doing lots of knitting this week working on a hoodie for myself, but I got some very ouchy hand cramps yesterday. So I'm going to have a break for a while.

More creative spaces with Kirst.

Have a good extra long weekend!

Whatcha Wearing Wednesday

As usual, I'm playing along with WWW only because I have a cute outfit on! And what better reason really?

I would really like to tell you all that I made this myself. But I haven't mastered (or even attempted to) cables yet. This is actually a dress from Target. Aren't the little cap sleeve cute? I'm all for anything with cap sleeves. Way better than sleevless in hiding my arm fat!

WWW is hosted by the lovely Fii, so you should head over and see what everyone else is wearing!

Anything planned for the long weekend? It's my nephews 4th birthday party this Saturday, and I'm having a little brunch on Sunday while Jess is visiting. So be on the look out for more crafty adventures wile she's down.

Baby Yoga Pants

Here we have a pair of baby yoga pants from the Mike's book as modelled by the adorable Beau. They're a little big in the hips because he's super skinny, but a good fit overall. My biggest worry was that he'd be too tall for them. But it was ok, because I think the original pattern intended for them to rolled up, so good news all around! This pattern is by the lovely Shannon of Aunty Cookie fame. Cute!

My Creative Space.

Whoops! Has it been a week already. I would be more repentant, but it would be a lie in all honesty! Would is satisfy you to know that I really have been doing a lot of craft though? In between not updating my blog that is.

Anyway, this weeks creative space is all in the kitchen and in my big bed. Tonight marks my first attempt at my mum's special sausage roll recipe. I was a little nervous to begin with, they're a much loved recipe. But aside from the fact that her recipe make 8 dozen and mine only made 6, they're still looking pretty good. I'll let the boys at work be the judge of that one tomorrow!

And, on the bed front. Since I got my blanks (as featured in last weeks creative space) I've been having my first proper go at embroidery, and I really like it. I think it's really relaxing as far as craft goes, something that you can put your mind to but doesn't need as much attention as knitting or all the noise of running the sewing machine.

Today I went on a trip to Lincraft on my lunch break and picked up one of those nifty embroidery thread boxes with the little plastic spool thingies. I think I may have said it before once or twice, but there's something very satisfying about making things into a rainbow! I will admit that it's a little sad looking still. But I'll fill in the gaps soon enough!

For more creative spaces as always, go and see Kirst!
